paul shaw documents the typography of brooklyn, including the "hotel montague" lettering near the promenade. apparently the montague, along with next-door neighbor the grosvenor, was one of brooklyn's first apartment buildings! it became a hotel at the turn of the century, turned into welfare housing in the 70s, and reverted back to co-op apartments in the 80s. two decades later, i moved in. standard gentrification.
